Crew Girl Season 1 ends with Britney preparing to challenge Easton Prep’s boys on the water, but the headline needs one important clarification. Britney does not join an existing women’s rowing team. She gathers students and a wealthy family donor, then convinces the school to create a girls’ boat.
The move is partly personal after her relationship with Josh falls apart, although it also creates a genuine new opportunity at a school that previously offered Teagan no girls’ team. Netflix’s official ending explainer confirms Britney’s motivation and leaves Teagan’s possible place in the new boat unresolved.

Britney spends much of the season connected to Josh and Easton’s social hierarchy rather than the rowing program. That changes after Josh’s feelings for Teagan become impossible to ignore. By the finale, Britney treats rowing as a way to reclaim control and compete directly with the people who disrupted her life.
When Baloo sees his sister using an erg with confidence, Britney explains that she wants to beat Josh at something he loves. She does more than make a threat. Britney recruits other students and secures support from a donor in her family, giving the school enough backing to establish the girls’ boat.
The decision also exposes a gap that has shaped Teagan’s entire season. Teagan arrived at Easton as a talented single sculler but became coxswain of the boys’ crew because the school had no girls’ team. Our broader Crew Girl ending guide explains how her work with the boys produces a silver-medal finish while leaving her next move open.
Will Teagan row with Britney?
Netflix has not confirmed that Teagan joins Britney’s boat. The official explainer presents it as a future choice between her connection to the boys’ team, the new opportunity for girls and her original ambition in single sculling. Showrunner Vivian Lin says Britney brings out a particular side of Teagan, but that comment is not a Season 2 plot announcement.
The rivalry gives the finale a useful ending because Britney’s revenge can produce something constructive even when her reasons are messy. It could expand Easton’s rowing program and force Teagan to decide what she wants from the sport. Netflix has not renewed the series, unlike the confirmed return covered in our Walter Boys Season 4 update.
