Reacher Season 5 is officially moving forward at Prime Video, giving Alan Ritchson’s wandering former military investigator another case after the Philadelphia conspiracy in Season 4. Amazon has also confirmed that the next season will adapt Make Me, the twentieth novel in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series.
The official Prime Video update provides a clear starting point for the new story. Reacher’s train stops in the mysterious town of Mother’s Rest, where he joins a private investigator searching for a missing person and uncovers a dangerous criminal conspiracy. A release date has not been published.
- Renewal status: Confirmed by Prime Video
- Lead actor: Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher
- Source novel: Make Me by Lee Child
- Setting: Mother’s Rest
- Central case: A missing-person investigation
- Release date: Not announced
What the next Reacher case is about
Mother’s Rest initially appears to be another stop on Reacher’s journey, but the official description turns his arrival into the beginning of a new mystery. He works with a private investigator rather than handling the disappearance alone, and their search leads toward a larger criminal operation. Prime Video has not identified the missing person or explained how closely the television version will follow every turn in Child’s novel.

The confirmed setup also indicates that Season 5 begins a separate case. Season 4 adapts Gone Tomorrow and follows a conspiracy that starts after Anna Merrick dies on a subway. Our Season 4 premiere recap covers that opening, while the Episode 5 recap follows the flash drive as it changes Reacher’s understanding of the case.
Who is joining the Season 5 cast?
Prime Video has announced four additions. Amanda Ip will play Michelle Chang, Jay Baruchel will appear as Chief Buck Bauer, Ciara Bravo will play Eunice and Kevin Durand will take the role of Nokes. Ritchson remains the center of the series as Jack Reacher.
Amazon has not published a full cast list, episode count, filming-completion update or premiere window. The role each new character plays in the disappearance is also mostly under wraps, so connections drawn directly from the book should not be treated as confirmed television details.
The announcement also does not connect Mother’s Rest to the surviving characters or consequences of Season 4. Until the current finale streams, any claim that an ally or enemy follows Reacher into the next case would be speculation.
Season 5 will follow a busy week for the franchise because the Season 4 finale and all eight episodes of the Maria Sten spinoff Neagley arrive on September 16. Our Season 4 release guide explains how that schedule fits together.
For now, Mother’s Rest, the missing person and four new cast members are the firm pieces of the next case. Which part of Make Me are you most interested in seeing adapted for Season 5? Share your thoughts in the comments.
