What Apple’s own iOS 27 page actually says
Apple’s iOS 27 page, at apple.com/os/ios/, puts the entire timing claim in five words: “iOS 27 available starting 9.14.” That is the whole of Apple’s published release-date language. Two older-pattern addresses, apple.com/ios/ios-27/ and apple.com/ios/ios-27-preview/, both return a 404 error rather than redirecting, which matters only because it means any link built on the old pattern will fail; the live page has moved to /os/ios/. The same page lists the free update as compatible with iPhone 18 Pro and every iPhone back to iPhone 11, plus iPhone SE (2nd generation and later).

Where a release hour would normally show up, and does not
Apple’s own update-troubleshooting article, “Update your iPhone or iPad,” tells you to back up, plug into power, connect to Wi-Fi, then check Settings, General, Software Update. It never states when that check will start returning iOS 27. Apple’s security-releases index, the closest thing Apple keeps to a public release log, still lists iOS 26.6.2 as its newest row, published September 8, with no iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 row added. There is still no “About iOS 27 Updates” support document of the kind Apple eventually publishes for every release, and none of that changed between Friday and this weekend.

We checked again Sunday, and nothing has moved
Every page cited above was re-checked on Sunday, September 13, the day before release. The iOS 27 page still reads “available starting 9.14” with no hour attached. The security index is still dated September 8. The update-instructions article is still dated December 5, 2025, and still written against iOS 26. None of the three pages that would be the natural place for a release hour has added one since the prior research pass, which is itself worth stating plainly rather than guessing what Monday will look like.

Why the date is firm and the hour is not
Apple’s own wording, “available starting 9.14,” already signals a start rather than a single instant, which is consistent with a software update reaching devices gradually rather than all at once. That is a reasonable reading of the phrase, not a published schedule. It is also a different situation from a carrier or storefront event: Apple’s own storefront named an exact opening moment for iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders, 12:00 UTC on September 12, and named it well in advance. No equivalent clock time exists anywhere on Apple’s iOS 27 pages.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not named a release hour, a time zone, a rollout duration, or a country order for iOS 27. It has not confirmed that release candidate build 24A435, finished on September 9, ships unchanged as the public 27.0 build. It has not said whether every eligible device, from iPhone 18 Pro back to iPhone 11, sees the update appear in Settings at the same point in the day.
The next confirmable fact arrives Monday, September 14, when Settings, General, Software Update either shows iOS 27 or does not, on a device already connected to power and Wi-Fi. Until then, and separately from Friday’s arrival of AirPods 5 news and the software still to come from that same event, the only documented statement about timing remains the five words on Apple’s own page.
