Apple’s own description of the feature: a “Recipe Catalog” that readers can “browse, search, and filter,” with “new recipes added every day,” a step-by-step “cook mode” that fills the screen, and curated food stories alongside the recipes themselves, covering “restaurants, healthy eating, kitchen essentials, and more.”
The local-news hub sits inside the same subscription
Apple’s January 2026 recap ties the more than 150 local newspapers directly to Apple News+, spread across 50 US states, seven Canadian markets and London specifically, which Apple names as a market on its own rather than folding it into a wider UK figure. That local hub, the 3,000-plus publications figure, the 600-plus News+ titles and the Food section’s 100,000 recipes all sit inside the same single subscription tier, none of them broken out with its own separate price.
The $12.99 subscription that funds it
Apple’s current Apple News page states the price plainly: $12.99 a month after a free trial, with “1 month of Apple News+ free” for new subscribers, Family Sharing for up to six people, and, for buyers of an eligible new device, three months free instead of one. That three-month offer sits alongside the separate three-month Apple One offer tied specifically to iPhone 18 Pro, which begins Thursday, September 17, one day before phones reach stores.
News+ on its own also covers audio narration of articles and a daily puzzle section, both named on Apple’s current page, neither of which appeared in the original 2025 Food launch material.
Why News+ shows up twice in Apple’s pricing
Apple News+ is also the priciest single line item folded into Apple One Premier, which costs $39.95 a month and is the only Apple One tier that includes News+ at all. Buying News+ on its own at $12.99 a month, alongside Apple TV, Music, Arcade, iCloud+ and Fitness+ separately, costs meaningfully more than the $39.95 Premier price, the same gap between buying apart and buying bundled that shows up across every service Apple One includes.
Apple’s September 9 keynote and the Apple Watch Series 12 release that followed it did not mention Apple News, Apple News+ or the Food section at all; both News and its recipe catalog continue on Apple’s own separate publishing schedule, disconnected from this month’s hardware launches.

- Whether Apple News+ Food has expanded past its original four launch countries since February 2025.
- An updated recipe or publication count since the 100,000 figure at launch.

Today is Sunday, September 13, 2026. Apple’s most recent published ranking claim for Apple News, and its most recent Apple News+ Food figures, both predate this week’s product launches and tomorrow’s iOS 27 release by months, and Apple has not refreshed either since.
