The Cheapest Way to Buy iPhone 18 Pro: Every Published Route, Ranked by What You Save

There are six published routes to paying less than $1,199 for an iPhone 18 Pro, and only three of them put money back in your hand on the day you buy. The rest are monthly credits, cash back or a lease, and each one carries a condition that decides whether it is worth taking.

The route most buyers reach for first is gone. The iPhones Apple kept are each listed $100 higher on its Store page than before the event, the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are no longer sold, and the $100 increase on the Pro itself lands on top. Stepping down a model no longer saves what it used to.

The routes that do not work in 2026

Four of the standard savings plays are closed this year, and it is worth knowing before you go looking for them.

  • Education pricing. Apple’s Education Store lists iPhone 18 Pro at $1,199, $1,399, $1,799 and $2,399, exactly the consumer prices. There is no student discount on any iPhone.
  • Certified Refurbished. Apple advertises savings of up to 15 percent, a one-year warranty and a new battery and outer shell. As of September 10 the newest refurbished iPhone listed was an iPhone 16 512GB at $909, with no iPhone 17 generation stock, and Apple publishes no schedule for when models appear.
  • Last year’s Pro. The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max are no longer sold. What Apple kept, the iPhone 17e, iPhone 16, iPhone 17 and iPhone Air, each list $100 higher than before the event.
  • The connectivity discount. Apple’s $30 carrier connectivity discount is named only on iPhone 17 and iPhone 16. There is none on iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max or iPhone Duo.

Retailers are quiet too. The only confirmed launch promotion is Best Buy’s Apple Watch Series 12 listing, where an eligible Watch trade-in takes up to $325 off and the offer expires on September 18. Best Buy, Walmart, Costco, Target and Amazon have published no iPhone 18 Pro offer.

Instant credit or 36 monthly credits: the difference that decides it

Apple’s own word for its trade-in credit is instant. It comes off the price at the till and you are done. A carrier’s larger headline number arrives as 24 to 36 monthly bill credits on a qualifying plan, so the full amount only reaches you if you stay put for the whole term.

That is why the biggest published figure is not automatically the best one. Apple’s footnotes list AT&T credits at $1,200, $930 or $350 depending on the phone you trade and the plan you pick, and AT&T’s own site carries no iPhone 18 Pro promotion to confirm any of them.

What a real purchase looks like

LineFigure
iPhone 18 Pro 256GB$1,199.00
Apple Trade In, iPhone 15 Pro in good condition-$370.00
Paid at checkout, before sales tax$829.00
Apple Card Daily Cash at 3 percent of $1,199-$35.97
Net cost after cash back$793.03

This is our arithmetic on Apple’s published figures and on the value recorded for that model. Daily Cash arrives on the card rather than lowering the checkout total, and any trade-in figure is an estimate until Apple inspects the phone.

What has not been confirmed

Verizon has published no iPhone 18 Pro offer beyond a pre-order time of 8 a.m. EDT on September 12, AT&T’s deals page still leads with last year’s Pro Max, and T-Mobile’s site could not be checked. Apple has published no AppleCare+ price for iPhone 18 Pro, and no per-model trade-in table.

Pre-orders open on Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. PT, and the phones reach stores on Friday, September 18, the same day AirPods 5 arrive. AppleCare One Family at $49.99 a month becomes available on September 14, alongside iOS 27. Check any trade-in estimate on the day you order, because the values moved once already this week.
