The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max use Apple’s C2 modem, which Apple says uses 15 percent less energy than the C1X. mmWave 5G is included in the US, and Apple has not listed it for any other country.
Add the fact that the US model is eSIM-only with no SIM tray, and American buyers end up with a phone that differs from most of the world in two ways. Neither difference changes the price, which starts at $1,199 for the Pro and $1,299 for the Pro Max, as covered in our iPhone 18 Pro announcement roundup.
What mmWave 5G is and why it is US-only
mmWave uses very high frequency bands that carry a lot of data over short distances and struggle to pass through walls. Carriers deploy it in stadiums, arenas, airports and dense city blocks rather than across whole regions, so most 5G use in daily life happens on lower bands.

Apple’s release says mmWave 5G is available in the US and does not mention it elsewhere. Apple has not said whether any other country’s model includes it, or which US carriers support mmWave on the iPhone 18 Pro.
The C2 modem and what it means for battery life
C2 is Apple’s own modem and succeeds the C1X. The only figure Apple gave is efficiency: 15 percent less energy than its predecessor.
That efficiency contributes to the phones’ ratings of up to 36 hours of video playback on the Pro and 45 hours on the Pro Max, but Apple has not broken out how much of the gain comes from the modem versus the A20 Pro chip or the battery itself. Apple has also not published peak download or upload speeds for C2.

The eSIM-only list covers Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, the US and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Buyers in those places should have their carrier’s eSIM process ready before the phone arrives.
