Apple announced two new iPhones on September 9: the iPhone 18 Pro from $1,199, shipping September 18, and the iPhone Duo, its first foldable, at about $2,000 with an October release according to keynote coverage. Only one of them has a press release.
That gap shapes any comparison. The iPhone 18 Pro has published specifications, prices and dates. The iPhone Duo has a name, a chip, two colors, an approximate price and a month, and Apple has not published anything beyond that. Here is what can be compared today.
iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone Duo: what Apple has confirmed

The one shared component is the A20 Pro, so whatever the Duo does with its displays, it should have the same 2-nanometer chip with the same 7-core GPU and 32-core Neural Engine as the Pro. The iPhone 18 Pro announcement has that chip’s full numbers.

Where the two phones differ on the record
Price is the clearest separator: the Duo’s roughly $2,000 starting point is about $800 above the iPhone 18 Pro and about $700 above the Pro Max. Apple has not said what storage that price buys or whether the Duo will have a monthly option like the Pro’s $49.95 for 24 months.
Timing is the other. The Pro goes on pre-order Saturday, September 12 and ships in more than 65 countries on September 18, while the Duo has no pre-order date and an October window with no country list. The colors also do not overlap: four for the Pro, two for the Duo.
What Apple has not said about iPhone Duo
Pre-event reporting, which we collected in our iPhone Duo preview, pointed to a 5.5-inch outer display, a 7.8-inch inner display, a Touch ID side button and Apple Pencil support. None of that appeared in an Apple document, and the keynote coverage did not add cameras, battery life, storage or weight.
Apple also has not said whether the Duo gets the Pro’s variable aperture camera, the N1 and C2 chips, the smaller Dynamic Island or the eSIM-only configurations. Until a press release lands, the honest position is that the Duo is a $2,000 A20 Pro phone in two colors that folds.
Should you wait for the Duo?
On the facts available, the decision is less about specifications and more about form factor and budget. The iPhone 18 Pro is a known quantity with a camera and battery Apple has quantified; the Duo is a new shape with a month-long wait and roughly $800 extra on top, and pre-event iPhone Duo price rumors ranged higher still.
The next fixed points are September 12 for Pro pre-orders and September 18 for delivery. For the Duo, Apple has given only October, and we will update this comparison once it publishes a full spec sheet.
