Two published Apple Card numbers do the work on iPhone Duo: 3 percent Daily Cash back on purchases at Apple, paid up front, and 24 monthly installments at 0 percent APR. On the $1,999 model that is $59.97 back and $83.29 a month, which is Apple’s own figure.

The condition attached is the part people miss. Apple Card Monthly Installments on an iPhone require you to pick AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon at checkout, prepaid plans are not supported, and the plan is unavailable in several of Apple’s own storefronts.

What 3 percent Daily Cash is worth at each storage tier

Apple’s wording is that buyers get 3 percent Daily Cash back on their own purchases of Apple products, all up front, rather than drip fed over the term. Applied to Apple’s published Duo prices, that produces the following. Apple has published only the $83.29 monthly figure, for the 256GB model, so the other monthly numbers are our arithmetic at 0 percent over 24 months.

1TB$2,599$77.97about $108.29, our arithmetic
2TB$3,199$95.97about $133.29, our arithmetic

Note what the 0 percent term means in practice: 24 payments of $83.29 total $1,998.96, so the installment plan costs no more than paying in full. The Daily Cash is the only genuine reduction here, and it is roughly a third of the step from 256GB to 512GB.

The carrier rule attached to Apple Card installments

Apple’s own wording is blunt. To buy an iPhone with Apple Card Monthly Installments you must select AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, and prepaid carrier plans are not supported. iPhone Duo is eSIM only worldwide, so that selection is a carrier account rather than anything physical, but it is still a requirement rather than a preference.

What it does not buy you is a carrier deal. Apple’s iPhone Duo release repeats only its generic trade-in line and does not extend the up-to-$1,200 carrier credit figure to the foldable. No carrier has published Duo terms of its own. For context, two days before iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders, Verizon’s page carried only a pre-order time and AT&T’s own site carried no iPhone 18 Pro offer at all, so the silence is not unique to the fold.

Where Apple Card installments are not available

Apple lists the exclusions: special storefronts, the Apple Employee Purchase Plan and participating corporate Employee Purchase Programs, and the Veterans and Military storefront.

That last one is a real fork rather than a footnote. The Veterans and Military storefront takes 10 percent off Apple products, which is $199.90 on a $1,999 Duo by our arithmetic on Apple’s published price, but Apple states that Apple Card Monthly Installments are not available as a payment type there, and the Apple Upgrade lease is not offered there either. You pick the discount or the financing, not both.

Installments against the Klarna lease

Apple Upgrade replaced the iPhone Upgrade Program on July 28, 2026 and is a lease provided by Klarna, for US residents only. Apple publishes iPhone Duo on it from $57.99 a month over 24 months, with reported ranges of $57.99 to $92.81 on a 24-month term and $82.99 to $132.81 on 12 months.

  • Installments: $83.29 a month for 24 months, $1,998.96 in total, and the phone is yours at the end.
  • Lease: from $57.99 a month, which is $1,391.76 over 24 months by our arithmetic, and the phone is not yours at the end.
  • AppleCare is not included in the lease. Apple’s line is that customers can add an AppleCare subscription, so budget it separately.
  • At the end of a lease you upgrade, buy the phone outright with a one-time payment Apple has not published, or return it in good condition, with damage fees possible. Do nothing and Apple says the lease converts to month-to-month for up to six months.

One more Apple Card number is worth keeping in view. Apple states that the variable APR on new Apple Card accounts ranges from 17.49 percent to 27.74 percent as of July 1, 2026. That rate applies to anything not sitting on an installment plan, so carrying a $1,999 balance outside the structure is the expensive way to use the card.

What has not been confirmed

Apple has published the monthly installment figure only for the 256GB Duo. It has not published whether the 3 percent Daily Cash is calculated before or after an instant Apple Trade In credit is applied, what the end-of-lease buyout costs, per-device AppleCare+ prices for iPhone Duo, or any carrier offer for the foldable. Apple Trade In credit itself is applied instantly at purchase, and Apple’s published range of $175 to $885 for iPhone 13 or later appears in its iPhone 18 Pro pricing material rather than the Duo release.

Pre-orders open on Friday, October 16 at 5 a.m. PT and the phone ships on Friday, October 23, so there is a month to get an Apple Card approved and a carrier decision made before checkout. If you are still choosing between the fold and Apple’s biggest conventional phone, our Duo against iPhone 18 Pro Max comparison covers it, and the event recap has everything else Apple announced.
