What Apple has said about the iPhone Duo Case
The Case is the cheaper option at $79 and comes in sand and navy blue. Keynote coverage described it as a two-part protective case, which fits a phone that folds: each half of the Duo gets its own shell, and the hinge stays free to move.

Apple has not said what the Case is made of, how much it weighs, or whether it covers the hinge cover. It also has not said whether MagSafe charging works through it. The phone itself supports MagSafe and Qi2 at up to 25W, so ask before buying if you plan to charge wirelessly.
The Case is the pick if you want the thinnest protection for a phone Apple already calls its thinnest at 5.2 mm open, and if you do not need to prop the Duo up. That is a more relevant point than usual, because iOS on the Duo already responds to how the phone is posed, with StandBy, landscape, portrait, seated and standing positions. Apple’s own tagline for this is that the phone is posable, so a partly open Duo is designed to stand without help.
What Apple has said about the iPhone Duo Folio
The Folio costs $129 and comes in navy blue and taupe. Apple’s press release calls out one feature, an integrated kickstand, and describes the product as a folio. Apple has not said which orientation the kickstand supports, whether it holds the phone open, closed or both, or whether it covers the 5.4-inch outer display when closed.
A folio on a foldable raises a question a regular iPhone folio does not: which side does it cover? The Duo’s outer display carries the 12MP Center Stage camera and is where Duo Preview, Kid Cue and Duo FaceTime show up. If the Folio wraps the outer display, those features need the cover open. Apple has not addressed this, and we are not going to guess.
The Folio is the pick if you want a stand that works with the phone fully open, for video calls on the 7.6-inch inner display, and if you would rather have a single wrap-around accessory than a two-part shell.

Does iPhone Duo need a case at all?
Apple’s durability claims for the Duo are unusually detailed. The phone has a Grade 5 titanium frame with a mirror-polished finish, a 3D-printed hinge cover made from 100 percent recycled titanium, Ceramic Shield 2 on the outer display with three times better scratch resistance, Ceramic Shield on the back and an IP68 rating to 6 meters for 30 minutes. The inner display sits under a custom polymer cover with 40 percent higher stiffness than the industry standard, over high-strength glass layers, with a scratch-resistant coating.
None of that is a promise against drops, and Apple has not published a drop rating or a hinge cycle count.
