Apple has published no known-issues list for iOS 27, no security notes for it and no accessory compatibility page, so nothing on the record predicts a dead CarPlay connection or a lost Bluetooth pairing on Monday. What Apple has published is a short list of changes that touch exactly those areas, plus one deadline that explains why your apps should keep running.
The useful distinction on update day is between something that broke and something that has not shipped yet, because iOS 27 contains several features Apple has openly dated to later. iOS 27 arrives free on Monday, September 14 for iPhone 11 and later plus iPhone SE (2nd generation and later).
Key facts
| Area | What Apple publishes for iOS 27 |
|---|---|
| Known issues document | None. There is no “About iOS 27 Updates” page yet |
| Security notes | None. Apple’s security index stops at iOS 26.6.2, dated September 8, 2026 |
| Bluetooth | No iOS 27 Bluetooth change published at all |
| Wi-Fi and cellular | “Your iPhone more seamlessly chooses the best available Wi-Fi or cellular connection” |
| CarPlay | Siri AI in CarPlay. Vehicle support varies by manufacturer and model |
| Apps | No rebuild required. The iOS 27 SDK requirement for new uploads starts in April 2027 |
| AirPods | Custom EQ in AirPods settings, and GymKit on iPhone for gym equipment |
| Parental controls | Appear “after installing the Screen Time update in iOS 27”, a separate step |
The network change Apple did publish
One line in Apple’s performance material is the closest thing to an admission that connection behaviour changes: iPhone “more seamlessly chooses the best available Wi-Fi or cellular connection”. That is a change to how the phone decides, described as an improvement and quantified nowhere.

It matters because handoff behaviour is what people notice and describe as Wi-Fi being broken. Apple publishes no detail on what the new logic prefers, no way to see the decision and no setting attached to it.
CarPlay gets one addition, and your car decides
The published CarPlay change for this cycle is Siri AI, which Apple says “keeps you informed without taking your hands off the wheel”. Support varies by vehicle manufacturer and model, which Apple states rather than lists.
Two conditions travel with it. Siri AI is a beta, rolling out in English first with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish in October. And it is not initially available in the EU on iOS, where Apple’s own footnote says features that rely on Siri AI are also unavailable, without naming which ones.
Bluetooth: nothing published, and that is the answer
Apple has published no Bluetooth change for iOS 27. The accessory-facing additions are on the AirPods side instead: a Custom EQ for adjusting lows, mids and highs in AirPods settings, and GymKit on iPhone for connecting to treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stair-steppers.
Bluetooth 6 does appear in Apple’s 2026 material, but as hardware. It belongs to the iPhone 18 Pro and its N1 chip, not to the software update, and AirPods 5 arrive on the same September 18 date. Nothing published connects either to a pairing problem.
Things that will look broken and are simply not there yet
| What you may notice | What Apple actually says |
|---|---|
| New parental controls missing | They appear “after installing the Screen Time update in iOS 27”, which is a separate install |
| Password security alerts absent | “Coming in a future software update” |
| No AI labelling on edited images | SynthID “will be available in a software update later this year”, for most edited images |
| Siri AI missing in the EU | “Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS”, along with features that rely on it |
| Tap to Share unavailable | “Not currently available in the European Economic Area” |
| Clean Up missing in Photos | Available worldwide with the exception of mainland China |
| Some features English only | Messages and Mail Suggestions, Call Context and intelligent file naming are English only |
As for third-party apps, Apple’s developer notice is the reassuring part of the record. Apps do not have to be rebuilt for iOS 27 now. The requirement that new App Store Connect uploads be built with the iOS 27 SDK starts in April 2027, which is a year and a half of runway for the apps already on your phone.
What Apple has not said
- Any list of known issues, or a security content document, for iOS 27.
- Any statement about Bluetooth accessories, car stereos or older CarPlay head units.
- Which CarPlay vehicles support the new Siri AI behaviour.
- Which features are covered by the EU carve-out for anything that relies on Siri AI.
- Download size, free space needed, or whether the update rolls out in stages. Apple’s general update guide was last revised in December 2025 and does not mention iOS 27.
iOS 27 lands on Monday, September 14 with no published time. If something stops working that afternoon, the first check is whether Apple ever said it would be there on day one, because several of the headline features are dated to October or later. The rest of Apple’s September lineup reaches stores on Friday, September 18.
