Episode 3 confirms that one of the surviving student activists is hiding something. Those clues connect the present killings to the 1968 student massacre and create a motive that may involve revenge, institutional protection, or both.
A suspect can fit part of that story without being the person directing every crime. The Azules’ doubts suggest that evidence has been interpreted too quickly or that the department prefers an answer that limits further scrutiny.
