iPhone Duo costs exactly $700 more than an iPhone 18 Pro Max at every storage tier, and every storage step costs exactly what the same step costs on the Pro and Pro Max: $200 to reach 512GB, another $400 for 1TB, another $600 for 2TB. Apple has priced the fold as a flat surcharge and left the storage ladder alone.
That matters when you configure one, because it splits a $1,999 to $3,199 decision into two independent ones. Pick the capacity you would pick on any iPhone, then decide separately whether folding is worth $700. Treating the fold as a reason to economise on storage gets the maths backwards.

Those are Apple’s Store page figures, and the step column is the same for all three phones. That is the point: 512GB costs $200 more than 256GB whether you are buying the smallest Pro or the fold. Ten storefronts, four tiers each, and the surcharge never moves inside a currency. One caveat belongs with the US row: Apple’s headline Pro prices are the carrier-connected ones, and a 256GB iPhone 18 Pro bought unlocked is $1,299 rather than $1,199, as our iPhone 18 Pro pricing explainer sets out. Apple has published no connectivity discount for the Duo and no unlocked figures for the higher tiers. In the UK there is no such split, and the gap is a flat £700 either way.
Why the Duo’s storage case is not the Pro’s storage case
The usual argument for 1TB or 2TB on a Pro is video. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro spec sheet lists ProRes, Apple Log 2 and ProRes RAW, and ProRes at 4K 120 fps records to external storage precisely because it fills internal storage so fast.
Apple’s iPhone Duo tech specs do not list ProRes at all. The fold records 4K Dolby Vision up to 120 fps, Dual Capture at 4K 30, slo-mo at 4K 120, and 48MP stills from two cameras, which is plenty of data, but the single heaviest format on the Pro is absent from the Duo’s published sheet. The two decisions, separated
- Capacity: choose as you would on any iPhone. The $200, $400 and $600 steps are not inflated on the fold.
- The fold itself: a flat $700 over the Pro Max at every tier, or $800 over the 6.3-inch Pro. Our Duo against Pro Max comparison covers what that buys and what it removes.
- How you pay: $83.29 a month for 24 months with Apple Card Monthly Installments, or an Apple Upgrade lease from $57.99 a month, which is a Klarna lease rather than a purchase, requires selecting a carrier and does not include AppleCare. UK buyers get 30 months at 0 percent, from £66.63 to £106.63 a month.
- Accessories: the iPhone Duo Case is $79 and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand is $129, both orderable from October 16.
What has not been confirmed
Apple has not published an unlocked price for the Duo or said whether a connectivity discount applies, has not priced per-device AppleCare+ for any September 2026 product, and has not published a repair price for the folding display. No carrier has announced a Duo offer. Apple’s only published trade-in figure is a range of $175 to $885 for an iPhone 13 or later, and per-model values are not a table Apple prints. Nothing here is a prediction about stock, which Apple never publishes.
