Apple names China in the launch list for both new iPhones. It has published nothing at all about whether Siri AI will work there. As of September 10 there is no date, no partial rollout, no regulatory language and no acknowledgement of the question on apple.com, Apple Newsroom, Apple Support or Apple Developer.
That gap matters because Apple did address the other market where Siri AI is not shipping. The European Union gets a dedicated footnote in the iPhone 18 Pro press release. China gets a place in the hardware launch lists and silence everywhere else.

What Apple does say about China
China appears twice, both times in a hardware sentence. The iPhone 18 Pro release says customers in more than 65 countries and regions, “including Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Colombia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE, the UK, the U.S., and Vietnam,” can pre-order from September 12, with availability from September 18.

The iPhone Duo release uses the same country list for its 70-plus launch markets, with pre-orders from October 16 and availability from October 23. China is in both.
Where we checked, and what is not there
Four Apple properties carry the Siri AI messaging: the Apple Intelligence page, the iOS 27 page, the product pages for the new iPhones, and Apple Support. Every one of them names the EU. None of them names China.
Apple’s newsroom has also been quiet since the event batch. The newest item on Apple’s newsroom feed is dated September 9, and there is no press release dated September 10 in the archive, so nothing has been added since.
An absence is an absence. Apple not publishing something is not the same as Apple cancelling it, delaying it or confirming it, and none of those words belong in a story built on a blank page.
How that compares with the EU

Apple’s EU footnote reads: “Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Features that rely on Siri AI will also not be available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS. Apple is working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security.” There is no equivalent paragraph for any other market.
What a buyer in China can actually check
Two published facts are worth holding on to. First, Apple describes Siri AI as a beta that is “available in English to start,” so the assistant is language-limited at launch regardless of where you are.
Second, Apple Intelligence as a whole does support Chinese. The supported language list in Apple’s footnote runs Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), Danish, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Apple Intelligence language support and Siri AI regional availability are separate questions, and Apple has answered only the first.
The hardware timetable is unaffected either way. iOS 27 arrives on September 14, iPhone 18 Pro goes on sale September 18 and iPhone Duo on October 23.
What Apple has not said
- Whether Siri AI will be available in China at the September 14 launch.
- Whether any regulatory process applies, and if so which.
- Whether a partner model or a modified build is involved.
- Any date, quarter or year for a China rollout.
- Whether Chinese joins the Siri AI language list, and when. Expectations reported elsewhere in the trade press are not confirmed by Apple and should be treated as unconfirmed.
September 14 is the date to watch. That is when iOS 27 ships and when Apple’s regional software pages update, which is the first realistic moment for Apple’s own wording on China to change.
