Ian’s certainty begins with the distress call that reopens the case. Apple’s official synopsis says the former police detective is sure the teenage caller is Maggie. Episode 2 then follows Sarah’s side of the story and provides memories and objects that appear to connect her with the missing child.
Published episode reporting describes Sarah finding part of a flyer about Maggie and remembering that she carved “Mags,” Ian’s nickname for his daughter, into a log. However, memories can be incomplete, and physical clues can be planted or misunderstood. The episode does not provide a DNA result or another independent confirmation. Is Maggie really alive?
The ending strongly supports the possibility, but the honest answer after Episode 2 is that the series has not conclusively proved it. Ian believes Sarah is Maggie, while viewers have enough evidence to take his theory seriously without treating it as settled fact.
