Apple has published a full tech specs page, a launch price and a battery rating for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. What it has not published is a statement of who the phone is for, a lease price for it, or a single figure that treats its larger chassis as anything other than a bigger copy of the smaller Pro.
None of these are hidden facts waiting to be found. They are gaps in what Apple has chosen to print, and worth listing plainly before pre-orders, open since 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12, turn into deliveries on Friday, September 18.

No statement of who it is for
Apple’s own launch quote, attributed to Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, says the iPhone 18 Pro line brings “advancements to the areas our users care about most: camera, performance, battery, and intelligence.” That sentence covers both sizes at once. Apple has not published a separate line identifying who should choose the Pro Max over the smaller Pro, beyond the spec sheet itself.

No battery capacity, no separate thermal figure
Apple publishes battery life in hours, never in mAh, for the Pro Max or any current iPhone. And the vapor chamber claim attached to the A20 Pro, about three times the cooling performance of the previous design, is written for iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max as one sentence. Apple has not broken that figure out separately for the larger chassis, even though the Pro Max has more internal volume to work with.
No Apple Upgrade lease figure at this size
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro page quotes an Apple Upgrade lease, run through Klarna, from $34.99 a month over 24 months or $49.99 over 12 months, for the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro. Apple has published no equivalent lease figure for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, at 256GB or any other capacity, so the monthly cost of leasing rather than buying this model is not a number anyone can quote from Apple today.

Set side by side, the Pro Max is the model with the higher launch price and the shorter published list. Apple has priced a lease for the phone people are more likely to see as the default choice and left the larger, more expensive one without a lease figure at all.
No AppleCare+ price, no repair price
Apple’s AppleCare support tables list a row for the iPhone 18 Pro Max with the price cells empty; the figures load client-side and are absent from the page as served. Apple has also not published a screen or battery repair price for the Pro Max outside AppleCare, at launch.

- Any statement naming who the Pro Max is built for, separate from the smaller Pro.
- Battery capacity in mAh, or a chassis-specific thermal figure.
- An Apple Upgrade lease price for the Pro Max at any storage tier.
- Per-device AppleCare+ pricing, or an out-of-warranty repair price, for the Pro Max.
- Whether the connectivity discount that splits $1,299 from $1,399 at 256GB applies identically at every storage tier; Apple has confirmed it only at the entry tier.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max reaches stores on Friday, September 18, in more than 65 countries, with 20 more following on Friday, September 25.
