Apple Watch Series 12 uses what Apple’s tech specs page calls an Always-On Retina display with wide-angle OLEDs and LTPO3, refreshing down to 1Hz, with a peak brightness of 2000 nits and a minimum brightness of 1 nit. Those are the same peak and minimum brightness figures Apple published for Series 11 last year, which…
Apple Watch Series 12's Depth Gauge Is Back: 6 Meters, a Water Temperature Sensor and What 50 Meters Still Means
Apple Watch Series 12 ships with a depth gauge rated to 6 meters and a water temperature sensor, according to Apple’s tech specs page, sitting inside the same 50-meter water resistance rating the watch has carried for three generations. iPhone Duo's Outer Display: What Third-Party Apps Can Do There, and What Apple Has Not Said
iPhone Duo carries two displays, and Apple has published detailed specifications for both. What Apple has not published is what an ordinary third-party app, one that has not been rebuilt with the device in mind, is allowed to do on the smaller of the two, the 5.4-inch outer display, when the phone is closed. The…
iPhone Duo's Apple Intelligence Count Is 15 Languages. Every Other Apple Page Says 16
Apple’s iPhone Duo press release lists Apple Intelligence in 15 languages. Every other Apple page covering Apple Intelligence for iOS 27, including the June 8 announcement and the general Apple Intelligence page, lists 16. Apple has not reconciled the two figures anywhere in what it has published. Siri AI on iPhone Duo, shown in Apple's…
iPhone Duo Ships in October. Apple's Next App Rule Waits Until April 2027
On the same September 9 page where Apple opened developer resources for iPhone Duo, it also posted a separate notice with its own deadline: starting in April 2027, any app uploaded to the App Store must be built with the iOS 27 or iPadOS 27 software development kit or later. iPhone Duo ships six months…
iPhone Duo's Inner Camera Is the Only One Without a Published Resolution
Apple names a megapixel figure for every other camera on iPhone Duo: 48MP for the Main, 48MP for the Ultra Wide, 12MP for the Center Stage camera on the outer display. The camera built into the inner display, the one that carries FaceTime when the phone is open, is the exception. Apple publishes an aperture,…
iPhone Duo's Hinge Has More Than 100 Parts: What Apple Has Not Published About Fixing One
Apple’s iPhone Duo press release names an exact detail inside the hinge: more than 100 components, held together in part by custom adhesives Apple designed for flex relief. What Apple has not named is a fold-cycle rating for that hinge, a repair price for it, or where iPhone Duo sits in Apple’s repair programs. The…
iPhone 18 Pro Max Battery: The Only iPhone Rated at 45 Hours
Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro Max at up to 45 hours of video playback, up to 40 hours of streamed video and up to 30 hours of what it now calls typical use. No other iPhone Apple currently sells carries all three of those numbers, and the 45-hour figure is the single highest battery…
iPhone 18 Pro Max Display: The 6.9-Inch Numbers Apple Publishes for This Phone
Apple builds the iPhone 18 Pro Max around a 6.9-inch OLED panel at 2868 by 1320 pixels, 460 pixels per inch, inside a 249 gram aluminum body that measures 163.4 by 78.0 by 8.75 mm. Those are the figures Apple’s own tech specs attach to this phone, not a ratio measured against any other model.…
iPhone 18 Pro's Frame: Aluminum on One Apple Page, Titanium on Another
Two of Apple’s own pages disagree about what iPhone 18 Pro’s frame is made of. The tech specs page states “Aluminum unibody design.” Apple’s compare tool, on the same site, lists “Titanium frame” for the identical model, as of this week. iPhone Duo carries a Grade 5 titanium frame and hinge cover this season.
