Apple has published no carrier offer for AirPods 5. The only carrier terms on Apple’s own pages concern iPhone 18 Pro, where Apple’s Store page lists up to $1,200 in trade-in credit through AT&T and T-Mobile, and AirPods 5 remain $129, or $149 with the Wireless Charging Case, direct from Apple.
We set out to report what AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile announced for AirPods 5 in launch week. None of the three carrier newsrooms could be read: AT&T and T-Mobile returned access errors on every address we tried, and Verizon’s press listings render in the browser and showed no September 9 or September 10 items. This article is therefore limited to Apple’s own wording, which is the only confirmed carrier language available, and it says where each figure comes from.

What Apple’s Store page says about carrier credit
Apple’s Store page for iPhone 18 Pro carries offer text for two of the three big American carriers. The AT&T line reads: up to $1,200 for an eligible trade-in in any condition. The T-Mobile line reads: save up to $1,200 for an eligible trade-in in any condition. Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro press release summarises the same thing as carrier trade-in deals providing up to $1,200 credit.

Both offers work the same way as Apple describes them. The credit arrives as monthly bill credits applied over 36 months, it requires an eligible smartphone trade-in on a qualifying plan, and the amount varies by plan tier and by whether you are an existing customer, adding a line or new to the carrier. The same page tells buyers to be ready for pre-orders at 5:00 a.m. PT on September 12.

Why none of that is an AirPods 5 offer
Every element of Apple’s carrier text is about a phone. The credit needs a smartphone trade-in, it is paid against a phone line over three years, and it appears only on the iPhone 18 Pro Store page. Apple’s AirPods 5 press release lists the two prices, the September 9 pre-order date and the September 18 in-store date, and says nothing about carriers at all.
That is not evidence that no carrier will bundle AirPods 5. It means Apple has not said so, and the carrier newsrooms could not be read to check. Until one of them publishes terms, the confirmed US price of AirPods 5 is Apple’s own, and our AirPods 5 launch story covers what that price buys.
Apple Trade In and carrier credit are different numbers
Apple’s press release puts its own Apple Trade In credit toward iPhone 18 Pro at $175 to $885 for an iPhone 13 or later. The carriers’ up to $1,200, as Apple quotes it, is a promotional bill credit spread over 36 months on a qualifying plan rather than money off the purchase price, which is why the two ceilings differ so widely.
For an AirPods buyer neither figure applies. Apple states no trade-in value for older AirPods, and its Store page offers no bill credits on accessories. If you are also buying an iPhone 18 Pro at $1,199 or $49.95 a month, the carrier credit attaches to that purchase from September 12, and the AirPods are a separate line at list price unless a carrier says otherwise.
The confirmed way to buy AirPods 5 today
- AirPods 5 at $129 from Apple: USB-C case, pre-orders open now, in stores Friday, September 18
- AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case at $149: adds swipe volume control, a case speaker for Find My and charging on Apple Watch chargers, Qi chargers and USB-C
- Both models: Active Noise Cancellation that removes up to 50 percent more noise than AirPods 4 with ANC, per Apple’s press release, plus the H2 chip and an IP57 rating
- Battery, per Apple’s tech specs: up to 4 hours with ANC on and 20 hours with the case on the standard model, up to 5 hours and 22 hours on the Wireless Charging Case model
- Hands-free Siri AI needs iOS 27, which arrives on September 14, and an Apple Intelligence iPhone
What Apple has not said
- Any AirPods 5 bundle, discount or bill credit from AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile. Apple’s pages do not mention one and the carrier newsrooms could not be read.
- Verizon’s iPhone 18 Pro offer wording. Only AT&T and T-Mobile appear on Apple’s Store page.
- Per-device values behind the up to $1,200 figure. Apple states the ceiling and the 36-month structure, nothing model by model.
- Whether carrier stores will stock AirPods 5 on September 18. Apple’s release names its own channels and more than 65 countries and regions.
