iOS 27 arrives on Monday, September 14, as a free update, Apple confirmed in today’s press release. Apple has not stated a release time, but its iOS updates have usually gone live at around 10 a.m. Pacific, which points to early afternoon on the US east coast, evening in Europe and the small hours of Tuesday in Australia.
The date puts the software four days ahead of the iPhone 18 Pro and AirPods 5, which both reach stores on Friday, September 18. That gap is the norm for Apple’s September cycle: existing iPhones get the new OS first, and the new hardware ships with it preinstalled.
iOS 27 release time by city, based on Apple’s usual pattern
The times below assume Apple sticks to its 10 a.m. Pacific habit. They are not confirmed by Apple, and the company sometimes releases earlier or later than its usual window.

How to check whether iOS 27 is available
The update appears in Settings under General and then Software Update. Apple’s servers typically take a while to reach every device, so a delay of a few minutes after the update goes live is normal rather than a sign that your iPhone is excluded.
- Free update for eligible iPhones; Apple has not published the compatibility list in the release
- Siri AI launches in beta in English and needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence
- French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish Siri AI follow in October
- Also included: Image Playground with photorealistic images, Safari Notify Me, iPhone Handoff (carrier-dependent) and Apple Reference Image
Owners of an Apple Intelligence iPhone who want the new Siri on day one should plan around the times above. Apple has not said whether the Siri AI beta requires a separate opt-in once the update is installed.
What Apple has not confirmed about the iOS 27 rollout
Beyond the missing release time, Apple has not said whether iOS 27 ships alongside updates for iPad, Mac, Apple Watch or Apple TV on the same day, and the release does not mention those platforms. It also has not said whether all regions receive the update simultaneously, though Apple’s iOS releases have historically gone live worldwide at once.
AirPods 5 buyers have a second reason to watch the date: hands-free Siri AI on the earbuds needs iOS 27 and an Apple Intelligence iPhone, so the software will be waiting when the earbuds arrive on September 18.
