Apple’s monthly figure for iPhone Duo is $83.29 for 24 months, and multiplied out that comes to $1,998.96, four cents under the $1,999 list price. The plan charges no interest and takes nothing off, and it carries a condition most buyers do not expect: you have to select AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon at checkout.
It also covers one configuration. Apple publishes $83.29 for the 256GB model and no US monthly figure at all for 512GB, 1TB or 2TB, which is why the table below separates Apple’s number from ours.

The monthly figure for every storage tier
Dividing Apple’s list price by 24 reproduces Apple’s own $83.29 to the cent, so the same division is a sound way to read the other tiers. Apple has not published those figures. The three lower rows are our arithmetic on Apple’s published prices.

The lease behaves differently across tiers. Apple publishes a starting figure of $57.99 a month over 24 months for iPhone Duo, and the reported range across configurations runs to $92.81 on the 24-month term and $82.99 to $132.81 on the 12-month term.
What $83.29 a month does not include
Sales tax is the first omission. The monthly figure tracks the list price to the cent, so no tax sits inside it, and Apple’s own lease figures are quoted as excluding taxes and any trade-in credit.
Coverage is the second. Apple has not published an AppleCare+ price for iPhone Duo, and the AppleCare figures it has published are the subscription ones: AppleCare One at $19.99 a month for up to three devices, and AppleCare One Family at $49.99 a month from September 14. Adding the individual plan for the length of the installment term is $479.76 by our arithmetic, for a plan that covers three devices rather than one.
Accessories are the third. The iPhone Duo Case is $79 and the Folio with Kickstand is $129, both orderable from October 16.
The carrier rule attached to Apple’s own financing
Apple states that to buy any iPhone with Apple Card Monthly Installments, the fold or an iPhone 18 Pro, you must select AT&T, T-Mobile or Verizon, and that prepaid carrier plans are not supported. Buying an unlocked Duo on Apple’s installment plan therefore still means choosing a postpaid carrier at the checkout screen. Paying cash or with another card does not.
Two further exclusions matter. Installments are not offered in the Veterans and Military storefront, which is where the only across-the-board 10 percent iPhone discount lives, so that discount and this plan cannot be combined. And any Apple Card balance that is not on an installment plan sits on the card’s variable APR, which Apple put at 17.49 percent to 27.74 percent as of July 1, 2026.
The plan pays something back. Apple Card gives 3 percent Daily Cash on purchases at Apple, up front, which is $59.97 on a $1,999 Duo and $95.97 on the $3,199 model by our arithmetic.
$83.29 to own it, or $57.99 to hand it back
Apple Upgrade is a lease run with Klarna that replaced the iPhone Upgrade Program on July 28, 2026. Two years at $57.99 a month is $1,391.76 by our arithmetic, around $600 less than the installment route, and at the end of it the phone is not yours.
The terms are the story. AppleCare is not included, where the retired program included it. The device has to go back in good condition and damage fees may apply. If you do nothing when the term ends, Apple says the lease converts to a month-to-month lease for up to six months. Apple has not published what buying out an iPhone Duo lease costs.
Why the UK pays less each month for the same phone
Apple’s UK store finances iPhone Duo over 30 months at 0 percent, which produces £66.63 a month for 256GB, £73.30 for 512GB, £86.63 for 1TB and £106.63 for 2TB. The monthly figure is lower because the term is longer, not because the phone is cheaper.
Term length is the variable worth checking wherever you buy. Japan runs 36 monthly installments at 0 percent through Paidy. Canada is the reminder that 0 percent is not universal: Apple’s Canadian payment plans run at 7.99 percent APR, and Apple’s own representative example turns a $1,099 purchase into $1,192.79 repaid over 24 payments of $49.70.
What has not been confirmed
Apple has not published US monthly figures for any iPhone Duo above 256GB, an AppleCare+ price for the fold, a repair price for the folding display, or the buyout figure at the end of an Apple Upgrade lease. No carrier has published a Duo offer, so no carrier installment figure exists to compare either.
