Fitting iPad Screen Protector (an exercise in futility?)

Has anyone come up with a way to fit a generic iPad screen protector that doesn’t end up with bubbles that just won’t go away?

iPad screen protectors are danged hard to position because they are so large.
I’ve gone through 3 so far in an attempt to get it right.

I’ve seen a couple of name brand screen protectors that use a spray to allow the protector to be slid around the screen until placed correctly and then you use a squeegee to remove the excess spray and wait till dry.

Has anyone tried this with a plain generic protector, and what did you use ?
And do you have any tips…....

I found a Invisible Shield store in my local mall and paid them to install it for me.  It was totally worth the money to have a professional do it.

How much did you pay if it’s not a secret?
