I could only get audio using Airplay from my iPad to my TV. How were you able to get video?

I just watched the event, pretty cool!
The demos on iMovie and Garageband are pretty compelling.  Those apps are VERY well done and at $4.99 each a steal!
I think they will sell millions and millions of them.

Hey Hannibal I just tried to PM you on this but your inbox is full. I have to be careful saying this, but where did I say I was using an iPad? wink

But having said that Apple also released an update to iTunes yesterday. It now lets you stream iTunes video to the AppleTV via Airplay. I tried that later last night and it worked fine too.

Don’t know how long you let it run but the video on my Macbook Pro lagged the audio for what felt like a minute or two.  Audio and video were in sync when the picture finally showed up.  A bit of a production glitch I’m thinking.

I like to get the keynotes as a video podcast:

    http://www.apple.com/podcasts/apple_keynotes/apple_keynotes.xml

(full URL posted to help with pasting into iTunes->Advanced->Subscribe to podcast)

Then they come along with me and get watched over and over and over. smile

Yup but up until yesterday Apple were generally a bit tardy at getting them into the podcast. So you could either watch it from the front page or wait for the next day. It does seem that Apple work to some kind of schedule. The link was posted to the front page a little early because it didn’t actually work until 6:30, like on the dot.

I am glad that they appear to be giving the podcast feed some love as the wait was so unlike Apple.

Spent a chunk of yesterday morning re-watching the iPad launch presentation. Was very interesting seeing the pacing of the delivery and unveiling when compared to the iPad2 show.

Ratty, I’m glad someone else also picked up on the difference in programmatic pacing. This keynote had a much different “flavor” than others. The same elements were there but the post-PC devices meme kept geek-speak away. A5 is dual core, twice as fast. That’s it. 9x graphics but NO discussion about how they did it or how they measured it. Instead, SHOW the result of all that goodness.

A couple of friends said they were underwhelmed and would not upgrade, for lack of an SD slot, high res screen and stereo speakers.  So I asked if they would spring for those features at the $1000 price point. Of course not!  What do you expect for no additional cost increase?  For $0 incremental these devices are very compelling, especially when you can unload your old hardware for almost the original price.

    SD slot - keep dreaming

High res screen - same deal - you’re nuts to think a 3.1 million pixel screen on a tablet is practical from a price/power/performance standpoint right now, and just how many pixels are on your main computer’s display anyway?

Stereo speakers - uh…well the iPad probably doesn’t have a stereo speaker, but even if it did I’m guessing they’d be panned for not being some 1000-watt 7.1 system.

“Geeks” will never like the iPad.  Their loss.
