Apple’s Episode 3 synopsis confirms that Jason’s fixation on the Box tests his marriage. Published recaps report that the Jason living with Daniela and Charlie takes the machine apart, believing that he can protect his family by removing it. A Box later forms again, showing that his plan did not close the route into their reality.
The most obvious returning variant would be Jason2, the man who abducted Jason and stole his place in Season 1. Episode 3 reporting places Jason2 in Amanda and Ryan’s storyline rather than with the Dessens. Bringing those threads together would create a direct confrontation, but Apple has not said that it happens in Episode 4.
An unnamed Jason from the original Chicago is another possibility. Season 1 ended with many variants reaching the same world, and the new government storyline suggests the consequences have not disappeared. One of those variants could use the Box again, although there is no official evidence identifying which one might return.
The series could also avoid a new Jason meeting entirely. The immediate conflict may remain inside the Dessen family as Daniela questions Jason’s continuing obsession and Charlie tries to build a stable life. Amanda, Ryan and the Leightons also have enough unresolved material to carry the next chapter.
That option would fit Apple’s broader Season 2 premise, which says the Dessens settle into a seemingly safe world before unimaginable forces make them run again. The force that breaks their safety has not been identified in an official synopsis.

Apple confirms that Season 2 releases every Friday through October 30. It describes unimaginable forces making the Dessens run again, but it has not identified the next Jason they meet.
