Dark Matter Season 2 continues to follow more than one Jason Dessen, but Apple does not provide an official numbered glossary for the variants. The clearest way to understand them is to separate the Jason living with Daniela and Charlie, the Jason who stole his life, and the wider group created during the journey through the Box.
All of the Jason variants are played by Joel Edgerton. Common labels such as Jason1 and Jason2 are useful for viewers, although they are descriptive names used in coverage rather than a complete official classification published by Apple.

Jason1 is the version introduced as a Chicago physics professor, husband and father. Jason2 abducts him and sends him into another reality, hoping to replace him inside the Dessen family. Jason1 eventually returns, but his choices during the Box journey create many branches of himself.
Season 2 places Jason1 with Daniela and Charlie in a quieter reality. Apple’s Episode 3 description says his fixation on the Box tests his marriage. Published recaps report that he attempts to dismantle the machine, only to discover that a Box can form again.
Jason2 remains connected to Amanda and Ryan’s developing story. Episode 3 coverage reports that the pair reach Ryan’s original world and encounter Jason2 there. His knowledge of the Box and his responsibility for the original abduction make him a continuing threat, even while he is separated from the Dessens.
The other Jasons come from branches created after Jason1 was taken. Season 1 showed numerous versions reaching the original Chicago because each believed that Daniela and Charlie were their family. Season 2 reporting indicates that authorities are still investigating the aftermath. The show does not establish a finite total, and new branches can make any exact count temporary.
This distinction also prevents a common misunderstanding. The variants are not conventional laboratory clones created at one moment. They share a past until their paths divide, after which their experiences and decisions make them different people with competing claims.

Why there is no final Jason count
The multiverse allows decisions to create different outcomes and different versions of the same person. Viewers can identify the Jasons shown in a scene, but Apple has not named or numbered every variant. Any list claiming a final total would give the story a certainty it does not support.
