Apple calls the sensor package in Apple Watch Series 12 the all-new Health Sensing System, and its own specification page puts four sensors under that name: an electrical heart sensor, an always-on optical heart sensor, a blood oxygen sensor and a temperature sensor. Only the heart sensors are described as new. Ceramic joins aluminum and…

Apple Watch Series 12's 60x Heart Rate Claim: What Apple Counts, and the Baseline It Never Published
Apple makes two frequency claims for the Health Sensing System in Apple Watch Series 12: 60 times more frequent background heart rate readings than Series 11, and 24 times more frequent heart rate variability readings. The absolute rates Apple prints beside them are a heart rate reading every five seconds through the day and an…
iPhone Duo's Folding Display Is Not Under Ceramic Shield: Apple's Polymer Cover and the 40 Percent Stiffness Claim
The iPhone Duo’s 7.6-inch folding display is the one screen on the phone that Apple does not put under Ceramic Shield. Apple’s press release describes a custom polymer with 40 percent higher stiffness than the industry standard, laid over high-strength glass layers and finished with a scratch-resistant coating, while the 5.4-inch outer display gets Ceramic…
iPhone 18 Pro Shoots 4K at 25 and 100 fps: The Two Frame Rates for 50 Hz Countries
The iPhone 18 Pro records 4K Dolby Vision video at 24, 25, 30, 60, 100 or 120 frames per second, and two of those six numbers exist for one region rather than one purpose. Broadcast and streaming delivery across most of the world outside North America runs at 25 frames per second, so Apple’s list…
iPhone 18 Pro Cost of Ownership Outside the US: A Price, a Finance Plan and No Coverage Figure
Every coverage price Apple has published for this launch is a US price. AppleCare One is $19.99 a month for up to three products with $5.99 for each device after that, and AppleCare One Family is $49.99 a month from September 14. Outside the US, a buyer ordering an iPhone 18 Pro today has a…

With AirPods 5 on sale, Apple’s headphone range comes down to four prices: $129, $149, $249 and $549. The steps between them are $20, $100 and $300, and each one buys something very different. AirPods 5 at $129 sets the floor of Apple's range. Image: Apple The cheapest step is the easiest to misread. Going…
iPhone 18 Pro Pro Controls: Apple Lists Four Manual Tools, and ISO Is Not One of Them
Apple describes Pro controls as a new customizable experience in the iPhone 18 Pro Camera app, with manual adjustment of lens aperture, shutter speed and white balance, plus a histogram for checking exposure. That is four items, and the one photographers will notice is missing: ISO appears nowhere in Apple’s published description. Aperture is one…
iOS 27 Still Supports iPhone SE, and Two Apple Pages Disagree on Which SE a New Watch Needs
iOS 27 still supports the iPhone SE. Apple’s compatibility list ends with “iPhone SE (2nd generation and later),” which is the only open-ended entry on a list that otherwise names all 33 iPhones individually, and the free update lands on Monday, September 14. Apple names 33 iPhones for iOS 27 and leaves one entry open-ended.…
How Long Does iOS 27 Take to Install? Apple Has Never Published a Time for Any Release
Apple has never published how long an iOS update takes to install. Not for iOS 27, not for any earlier release, and not for any iPhone model, which means every “20 to 30 minutes” figure you will read on Monday is somebody’s estimate presented as fact. iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max ship with iOS…
iPhone 18 Pro Max: Five Minutes of Charging, Seven Hours of Video, and No Figure for the Smaller Pro
Buried in Apple’s September 9 announcement is the only iPhone charging claim this year written in hours rather than percentages: five minutes on a cable gives the iPhone 18 Pro Max about seven hours of video playback. Apple published no equivalent figure for the 6.3-inch iPhone 18 Pro, and none for wireless charging on either…
iPhone 18 Pro Picks Its Own Aperture: The Three Scenes Apple Says Move the Blades
Most iPhone 18 Pro owners will never open the manual aperture control, and Apple has designed for that. Its announcement says the camera can adjust the aperture on its own, and it names three situations: f/1.48 for low light, f/1.8 for portraits, and f/4 for group photos with greater depth of field. The wide end…
iPhone 18 Pro Loses 3 Hours When the Video Streams, and the Pro Max Loses 5
Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro for up to 36 hours of video playback and up to 33 hours of streamed video, and the Pro Max for 45 and 40. Streaming costs the smaller phone 3 hours and the larger one 5, and Apple publishes both numbers without ever explaining the difference. iPhone 18 Pro…
iPhone 18 Pro's Six Laser-Cut Blades: How Apple Fits a Moving Aperture Inside a Phone
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro main camera has a physical aperture that moves. Six laser-cut blades open and close behind the 48MP Fusion main lens, and Apple’s tech specs list four marked positions for them: f/1.48, f/1.8, f/2.8 and f/4.0. The 48MP Fusion main camera is the only lens on iPhone 18 Pro with a moving…
Apple Watch Series 12, Ultra 4 and AirPods 5: Still No Published UK Price Six Days Before Launch
Apple has published starting prices for iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo on all ten of the storefronts we track, but its Apple Watch and AirPods prices have holes, and the largest one is British. Six days before Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5 reach stores,…
Siri AI Ships on Five Operating Systems, and tvOS Is Not One of Them
Apple’s own sentence names five operating systems: “Siri AI is available in beta in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27.” tvOS is not in it, and Apple TV and HomePod appear nowhere on the Apple Intelligence device list, even though both are Siri devices today. The new assistant arrives with…

Two people in one household both want an iPhone 18 Pro when pre-orders open at 5 a.m. PT today, and the obvious question is whether Apple will let one of them order both. The only per-customer limit Apple publishes anywhere for these models is on its Singapore store page, which caps buyers at two iPhone…

Six iPhones qualify. iOS 27 arrives Monday, September 14, with the Apple Intelligence feature set split across hardware tiers. Image: Apple…

Apple Watch Audio Intelligence on an iPhone 15 Pro: Two Features Work, Two Do Not
Pair a new Apple Watch Series 12 or Apple Watch Ultra 4 with an iPhone 15 Pro and exactly half of Apple’s new Audio Intelligence set qualifies. Sound Recognition and Music Recognition ask for an iPhone 11 or later, while Live Rewind and Siri Recap require an iPhone 16 or newer, according to Apple support…
Screen Dim and Charging Stalled After the iOS 27 Update? Apple Documents It as Heat Protection
If your iPhone runs warm after installing iOS 27 and then the screen dims, charging stalls, the camera flash refuses to fire or the signal weakens, Apple documents every one of those as deliberate protection rather than a fault. Its list of activities that can change a device’s temperature includes, word for word, “complete a…
AirPods 5 Ship Without a Cable or Adapter: What Each Model Needs to Charge
Apple’s AirPods 5 buy page states it plainly: “AirPods 5 do not include a USB-C Charge Cable or power adapter.” Both boxes hold the earbuds, the charging case and documentation, and nothing else, so each model needs something you already own before it will take power. Both AirPods 5 models ship with the buds, a…
Apple Watch Ultra 4 and Series 12 Share One Health Sensing System: What the Extra $400 Does Not Buy
Apple Watch Ultra 4 costs $799 and Apple Watch Series 12 costs $399, and Apple gives both the same Health Sensing System, the same S11 chip and the same health claims worded the same way. The extra $400 buys battery life, GPS, satellite, water rating and brightness. Series 12 starts at $399 with the same…
Apple Watch Series 12 Senses Far More Often and Still Rates 24 Hours: What Apple Says Explains It
Apple Watch Series 12 measures heart rate every five seconds and HRV as often as every five minutes, and Apple still rates it at up to 24 hours of normal use and up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode. Those are the same battery figures Apple publishes for Series 11. Series 12 keeps the…
