Apple Card Family Features, Restrictions Revealed in Support Document

Apple has released a support document outlining the features of the recently launched Apple Card Family. AppleInsider published a breakdown of what it says.

Detailed in a support document, Apple Card Family is available to one cardholder and one member of their Family Sharing group who is 18 or older. Touted as a rethinking of traditional credit cards, the new service enables both members of an account to share a credit line while simultaneously building credit. A total of six people, including owners or co-owners, can be assigned to a particular Apple Card account. Participants must be 13 or older. Co-owners share full responsibility for account balance and payments, and have their credit reported equally in their own name, Apple says.

Canada Approves Apple Card and Apple Cash Trademarks

Canadian users may be able to user Apple Card and Apple Cash in the not too distant future. The trademarks for both have now been approved in the country, iPhone in Canada reported.

Apple applied for the trademark ‘Apple Card’ and ‘Apple Cash’ back in July 2019, and recent action history shows both were approved on January 25, 2021… Apple Inc. is listed as the applicant, with the filings completed by agent Baker & McKenzie LLP… It’s unclear if Apple will ever launch Apple Cash and Apple Card in Canada, but it’s always a positive sign to see trademarks for new features approved.

Here’s How to Disinfect Your Apple Card

Brittney Myers wrote a guide on how to disinfect your Apple Card and other credit cards. I think it’s useful in situations where you’re unable to pay contactless with Apple Pay. We’ve heard for years that our smartphones are dirty, with some saying they can be dirtier than a toilet. I expect that credit and debit cards will have a similar level of uncleanliness.

According to Harvard Health, the coronavirus can live on plastic and stainless steel for up to three days, and the CDC advises that frequently touched objects and surfaces should be cleaned and sanitized at least once a day. In addition to copious handwashing, cleaning your frequently used items can help keep your home germ-free.

Amazon Apple Card Option is Disappearing

People are starting to notice that their Amazon Apple Card payment option has disappeared.

Another person was told that the ‌Apple Card‌ is “not allowed on your account,” which is curious as the ‌Apple Card‌ is a Mastercard that should be accepted where Mastercard is accepted. A third person was told that the issue was on Apple’s end, so it appears that Amazon’s support staff has no insight what’s going on at this time.

Update: In a statement to MacRumors, an Amazon spokesperson said the following: “We are aware of this technical issue and are actively working to resolve it as soon as possible.”
